Our Story - 'A small team with a big reach'
Established in 2016, Karepsych began as a private psychology practice in Canberra, initially as a face to face clinic.
With a diverse and transient client base, our practice evolved and embraced the shift to telehealth and online therapy, backed by Goverment changes and Medicare adoption.
This allowed us to ensure the continuity of care for our interstate, overseas, and location challenged clientele.
'Our mission is to consistently provide quality psychological care, through compassion, understanding and trust.'
The quest for ideal day
In refining the practice and building around the idea of becoming ‘location independent’ we were able to take advantage of a long held hope and dream of ours.
In early 2020 we relocated our virtual practice to the ever beautiful shores of Hamilton Island, gateway to the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef.
Extending Our Reach
It is from this wonderful location that we are expanding our practice, in partnership with like minded organisations – DVA, OpenArms, and others – to deliver desperately needed psychological care to those unable to find local support.
We are experienced in complex trauma, working with Defence Force personnel (active and former), their families and first responders.
Our platform also facilitates seeing clients in remote areas, and those with disabilities, unable to take advantage of local face to face services
